It’s Sylvia and Marek’s wedding day. But as the vodka flows and the guests hit the dancefloor, passions boil over. Beth Steel’s play Till the Stars Come Down is, by turns, both richly comedic and uncompromisingly hard-hitting. Ultimately it’s a heart-breaking portrayal of a larger-than-life family struggling to come to terms with a changing world and revelations of betrayal.

It premiered at the National Theatre, London, in January 2024, directed by Bijan Sheibani. The production transferred to the West End in 2025 and was shortlisted for Best Play at the 2025 Evening Standard Theatre Awards.
